The review analyses the impressive result of the multi-year research by the famous theatre historian V.F. Kolyazin on the creation of the family tree of Vs.E. Meyerhold. Based on a massive body of archival materials, little-known and unknown, the author expands his view of the director’s biography and the origins of his artistic worldview. Despite the fruitfulness of discussions about the ‘national genetic code’ in the study of art, the natural science discourse of this issue is perceived as a bold hypothesis.
