The Phenomenon of Chronotope-Anthropological Art Studies. Reflections on the Monoraph by Alexander Yakimovich, Fragmentary in Volume and Innovative in Spirit
Abstract. The review analyzes the monographic study by A.K. Yakimovich The Art of Nikolai Smirnov (Moscow, 2025), dedicated to the work of Nikolai Nikolaevich Smirnov (1938–2005), the outstanding Moscow master of ‘historical still life’. The monograph is considered in the context of Yakimovich’s art history and cultural philosophical works of recent decades. In the procession of Smirnov’s chronotopes unfolding before the reader’s eyes, the author of this review reveals the researcher’s original multiperspective approach to interpreting the artist’s creative path and compositionally complex, masterfully perfect works depicting objects derived from the spirit of different eras and places.
