Neural Networks as a Tool of Conceptualization and Curating in the Screen Art: The Issues of Authorship in the Digital Age

Abstract. The relevance of the research topic is due to the radical changes in the field of artistic creation caused by the rapid development of digital technologies and, in particular, neural network tools. In the digital age, traditional categories such as authorship, originality, and individuality of artistic expression are undergoing a major rethink. The use of neural networks in artistic practice calls into question the classical notions of the artist as an autonomous creator of a work of art. Instead, the focus shifts to the role of the artist as a conceptualizer able to set the parameters of the creative process, and a curator who interprets and selects the results of the algorithms. Thus, there is a need for a theoretical justification of a new ontology of artistic production where neural networks act not as autonomous subjects of creativity, but solely as instrumental technologies that expand the boundaries of human creative capabilities. The research object is the processes of artistic creation in the digital age characterized by the use of neural network tools. The subject of the study is the influence of neural network tools on rethinking the category of authorship in the context of contemporary art. The methodology is based on the interdisciplinary approach: the research used the historical-comparative method, the method of interpretation, and the critical method. The work contributes to the development of a theoretical discourse on the integration of digital technologies into art, revealing their influence on traditional aesthetic and ethical concepts such as originality, authorship, and creative individuality. The scientific novelty of the research lies in a comprehensive understanding of the influence of neural network technologies on the transformation of the category of authorship in modern audiovisual art.
